Lea was the first openly LGBT comic to perform on late night television in America which launched her into world recognition. She plays Big Boo on the Netflix series Orange is the New Black, a role written especially for her. Other television credits include Californication, Will and Grace, One Life to Live, The Oblongs and Law & Order: SVU. On Broadway, Lea starred in On the Town and in The Rocky Horror Show. A superior jazz vocalist, Lea has 5 records out on The Warner Jazz and Classics label and was a featured vocalist at the 50th Anniversary Newport Jazz Festival.
