“Tawny is an utterly original creation, a free-form madwoman who doesn't do "jokes" but dares to engage her audience on the strength of her rambling mind and tender, broken heart.” -- Armistead Maupin

“A subtle, surprising theater piece with music, miles away from the resolutely earthbound drag shows you'll usually encounter. As directed by Robert LaFosse, Drake is funny and affecting, pulling off the impossible feat of creating a blonde character who's terminally superficial and deeply profound at the same time.” -- Michael Musto

Obie Award-winning playwright/performer David Drake (The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me) returns to New York with TAWNY TELL ME TRUE. Written by and starring Drake, this drag tragicomedy with music will be directed by Robert La Fosse (Tony Award nominee for Jerome Robbins' Broadway) featuring musical direction by Lance Cruce (Joan River's longtime pianist, Karen Finley's Make Love), original music by Trevor Kuprel, and video by Ned Stresen Reuter. Performances begin October 19th at The Laurie Beechman Theatre.

TAWNY TELL ME TRUE is the latest tell-all by Tawny Heatherton, a lovably eccentric showbiz survivor and “one hit wonder” of the disco zeitgeist of the early 1980s -- famous for her memorable international pop hit "Run Crazy Man." Tawny brings her singular blonde-swept brand of sunny, funny optimism while singing songs and recalling stories of alien abduction, her days as a child star on "Dark Shadows," and reuniting with her long-lost aunt Joey Heatherton at the Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino.
