Dutch Kills Theater (In Quietness, The Sister) will present the World Premiere of LATTER DAYS by Ben Beckley.  Directed by Jess Chayes, the production stars Tony Torn. Previews begin February 13 at Theater 511 with opening slated for Friday, February 24. An Ars Nova Fling.

LATTER DAYS is set beneath the streets of some godforsaken metropolis. In a forgotten basement, a self-described King and his long-suffering servant have waited eleven years for the day the world will end.  Now, at last, the apocalypse is at hand.  And when the time comes, nothing will be the same.

LATTER DAYS stars Tony Torn and Will Dagger (Napoleon in Exile at 59E59, Among the Dead at HERE, Pucker Up and Blow at FringeNYC). The production team includes Carolyn Mraz  (set), Kate Fry (costumes), Derek Wright (lighting), Asa Wember (sound) and Allison Raynes (stage manager).

Tony Torn is an actor and director based in New York City. His recent credits include directing Juliana Francis Kelly's The Reenactors; creating, starring in and co-directing the rock musical Ubu Sings Ubu; and acting in Breakfast at Tiffany's on Broadway, Untitled Theater Company #61's The Velvet Oratorio, Karin Coonrod's production of The Tempest at La MaMa, Jay Scheib's Platonov at The Kitchen, David Henry Hwang's Yellowface at The Public, and The Forest (opposite Diane Wiest) at Classic Stage Company. Known for his work with legendary experimental theater directors Reza Abdoh and Richard Foreman, he manages Torn Page, a salon space and classroom in Chelsea dedicated to the artistic legacy of his parents, Rip Torn and Geraldine Page. www.tornpage.org.

Jess Chayes is a Brooklyn-based director and founding co-artistic director of The Assembly, with whom she has co-created and directed eight original productions, including I Will Look Forward To This Later (New Ohio Theater/IRT Theater Archive Residency) and HOME/SICK (NY Times Critics’ Pick). Recent directing includes Half Moon Bay (Lesser America), Primal Play (New Georges), The Bachelors (Williamstown Theater Festival), The Sister (Dutch Kills), and The Netflix Plays (Ars Nova). She has developed new work with The Vineyard Theatre, The Playwrights Center and New York Theatre Workshop, among others. Jess is a NYTW Usual Suspect, a co-founder of New Georges Jam artists’ lab, and alum of The Civilians R&D Group and Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab. Ben Beckley has written plays for F*It Club and Blue Box Productions, and co-written two shows with The Assembly: That Poor Dream and HOME/SICK. As an actor, he recently appeared in Dying For It at Atlantic Theater Company, dir. Neil Pepe, and traveled to twenty-one cities with the first national tour of Peter and the Starcatcher, dir. Alex Timbers and Roger Rees. His other professional theater credits include work with TACT (The Actors Company Theatre), New Georges, and Berkshire Theatre Group. Ben has developed work for Playwrights Horizons, Soho Rep, and The Public Theater, and with award-winning directors Anne Kauffman, Rachel Chavkin, and Robert Wilson. Ben served two terms as president of The Bats at The Flea Theater, where he collaborated with Christopher Durang, Adam Rapp, and Andre de Shields. He developed four projects with Temporary Distortion at P.S. 122, The Chocolate Factory, and CUNY's Prelude Festival. As a member of The Assembly, he appeared in Krista Knight's Clementine and the Cyber Ducks, Chekhov's The Three Sisters, That Poor Dream and HOME/SICK. He graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in Dramatic Literature.

LATTER DAYS runs February 13 - March 11. Performances are February 13, 17, 19, 26, March 1, 3, 5, 8 & 10 at 9:00pm and February 15, 18, 22, 24, 25, 27, March 2, 4, 7, 9, & 11 at 7:00pm.
