"Letter perfect... brilliant." -- Edge New York

"Never fails to elicit fits of hysteria, gasps of embarrassment and outbursts of applause." -- Theater is Easy

After sold out runs in 2009, 2010 and 2013, THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND returns for its fourth limited-run engagement. This unauthorized musical parody inspired by the beloved TV sitcom “The Golden Girls,” features book by Nick Brennan (who also directs), music by Jeff Thomson, and lyrics by Luke Jones and Cisco Cardenas.  Performances run through January 29 at The Cutting Room.

In THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND four women over 60  (Blanchette, the varicose-veined vixen; Dorthea, the brainy ball-buster; Roz, the lovable airhead; and Sophie, the wisecracking spitfire) are spending their golden years together in a wicker-filled bungalow in Miami. But when gay pop superstar Ricky Martin moves next door, his loud outdoor sex parties keep the quartet of cheesecake-loving retirees awake. The solution pits the gays against the girls at the annual Shady Oaks Retirement Home Talent Show: if the women win, then no more sex parties; if the gays garner top prize, the sassy seniors must serve as the party's clean-up crew. Singing, dancing and hilarity ensues!

This newly revised production stars Josh Warr, Charles Baran, Gerry Mastrolia and Lavinia Draper as the iconic ladies and Craig Winberry as Ricky Martin. It features choreography by Joe Barros, sets by Tonae Mitsuhashi, costumes by Ryan Moller, lighting by David Palmer, animations by Jane Parisi/Ryan Duff, props by Marsh Shugart and stage management by Michael Fernandez.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND runs January 15 - February 26, select, Sundays at 7pm.  Doors open at 6pm with a special pre-show Golden Girls trivia challenge at 6:30pm. The Cutting Room is located at 44 East 32 Street (between Lexington and Park -- accessible from the N,R,F,V & 6 trains at 23rd Street). Tickets are $24, with a $20 food/drink minimum, available at 212-352-3101 or www.thegoldengirlsmusical.com.
